Fiji

New Zealand Mountains

Orientation and Community Service:

Upon arrival in Nadi, the group will have a three-day orientation at one of Fiji's beautiful beach side hostels. Over the next week the group will be building low-cost houses or other community development projects for underprivileged Fijian families on this Pacific Island. Accommodation will be in a Community Hall or with families in the local village. This is an excellent introduction to Fijian culture.

New Zealand

Outdoor Ed. School:

The group will spend 5 days at an outdoor leadership school, learning outdoor skills, doing a ropes course, hiking, etc. The group will also have the opportunity to do a full-day trek on the North Island through the Tangariro Crossing and what is fabled to be one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand.

Organic Farming & Conservation Work:

The group will split up for a week to live in two different intentional organic communities on the North Island. Most of New Zealand is agricultural which means that the group will be volunteering in a truly Kiwi experience. Work with the NZ Conservation Trust on one of their many worthwhile environmental projects (exact location and project varies from one semester to the next).

South Island Travel:

The group will have some time to explore the beauty of the South Island, including visits to Milford Sound and Queenstown, the adventure capital of NZ!

Australia

Outback Conservation Project and Aboriginal Culture:

The group will arrive by plane in Sydney, have a few days to explore the city, then travel to Alice Springs or another site to participate in rugged outdoor conservation work for two weeks in the surrounding countryside. The group will spend some time experiencing different aspects of Aboriginal culture - hearing tales of the Dreamtime (traditional stories about the Ancestors) as well as exploring sacred sites of the Aboriginals in Australia's Outback.

Spiritual Programme:

Spend 6 days at this peaceful Buddhist Monastary and Retreat Center receiving an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism and meditation as well as yoga.

Great Barrier Reef - SCUBA:

5 incredible days learning to SCUBA dive at one of the world's most spectacular dive locations. This course will lead to PADI Basic Open Water Certification. Higher levels of certification are available to those who have Basic certification.
